The first Kanga was designed in 1980 and was developed from the concept of a motorized wheelbarrow. These early units used 11 HP gas engines and were specifically designed for home owner use. End user acceptance of the concept was instant and it wasn't long before demand spread to rental yards. The first rental yard sales took place in the early 80's.

Amazingly, unit numbers 6 and 7 were recently discovered still working in a privately owned rental yard, and continue to be rented on a daily basis.

Modern Kangas are a far cry from early domestic machines and now offer 20-24 HP gas and diesel engines. Over 21 years of continual hands-on development has resulted in a powerful and versatile industrial workhorse.
